How do you communicate effectively online?

We must communicate with each other in order to learn. When communicating with each other in the classroom, we use speech, body language, and facial expressions. In online learning, we don't get to hear the speaker so we lose the tone of their voice. We also don't get to see the speaker so we lose their body language and facial expressions. This is one of the challenges of online learning, but it isn't hard to beat!

When communicating in online learning, make sure that what you write clearly gets your meaning across to the reader. Before sending an email about a problem or concern to your mentor, read through it slowly to make sure that you have included all of the information that your mentor will need to help you. It's also a good idea to run spell check on your emails to make sure that you haven't accidentally included any typos in your message.
